Black tie events have gone to the dogs with Baton Rouge’s Fur Ball! Have you dreamed of going to a black tie event with your dog? If you’re like me, the answer is yes! I would love to be able to bring Teddy with me everywhere and the Fur Ball is Baton Rouge’s Premier Pet Friendly Gala. We had the opportunity to attend the Fur Ball in 2019 and it was a night to remember. If you are local to the Baton Rouge area or are looking for a fun weekend getaway, keep reading.
The Fur Ball benefits Companion Animal Alliance (CAA), a local shelter group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. CAA takes in animals of all species. In 2020, they took in over 7,000 animals. In addition to helping find animals their furever homes, they also have a Pet Food Bank and their Pets For Life program, which operates under the core belief that a lack of financial means does not equate to a lack of love felt for and provided to a pet. PFLBR is committed to bringing free animal care, services, and information directly to the Baton Rouge communities lacking access to affordable veterinary care. The Fur Ball helps make their programs and rescues possible!
What to Expect At The FurBall
When you arrive and get checked in, you will walk the pink carpet! As you walk the carpet, you will see beautiful decor, pups and people! You’ll see the stage where the Fur Ball Court will make their entrance, you’ll hear music, and smell the bites of the evening! Don’t worry, there is plenty of space for your pup to stretch and keep their distance from others. There is also a potty area where your pups can go if needed. This year’s Fur Ball is being held at L’Auberge Casino.
At the end of the pink carpet, there may be volunteers there ready to take your photo against the fun backdrop! The year we went, there was a lot of mirrorball decor, including live people dressed as mirrorballs! I’m not sure how Teddy felt about them 🙂
Enjoy eating and getting to know other pet owners before the presentation of the Fur Ball Court begins. The host will call out each court member and they will make their entrance to their theme song! There was a live auction and silent auction at the event as well. At the end of the evening, the King and Queen were announced!
The Furball was such a fun experience! It was so special being able to bring Teddy to such an amazing event that gives back to the community. Helping animals in need is a cause we care deeply about so this was night we will always remember! When we got home, Teddy was exhausted from all the fun!
Outfit Ideas: What We’d Wear If We Were Going to This Year’s Fur Ball
The Fur Ball is a chance to get dressed up and have fun with your look! For humans, we saw everything from sun dresses, cocktail dresses and suits to formal gowns and tuxedos. For pups, some wore only their collars, bandanas, or suits and dresses! Since he does not like clothes, Teddy had a bowdana custom made to match my dress by GoodJoojooj (formerly PawpawRazzi Ready). He added two brooches on his bowdana for some added flair. We aren’t able to make the Fur Ball this year, but here are 3 outfit ideas we’d recommend wearing.
I actually have this exact dress and shoes for a very special wedding that I will be attending on the 9th too! I think it would be pawfect for the Fur Ball as well. Both the dress and shoes fit true to size. ASOS and Lulu’s have fit finders that help you determine which size would be best for you. I absolutely love this Selkie Ritz Gown. I ordered this as an option for the wedding we are going to and ended up returning it because it was a bit too puffy for the occasion and it was too small. I ended up returning this dress but I would love to wear it one day. I think this dress is so pretty and fun, so it would be a great option for the Fur Ball. The website has a fit guide, but if you are between sizes like me, I would size up. You can also find a coupon code for the dress by signing up for their text alerts. I am so excited for this Easter Bandana for Teddy by KoaBear Bandanas! They are one of our favorite shops and we’ve been getting accessories from there since they opened. I love these green heels to add more green to the dress!
You can’t beat a classic black dress. This dress from Target is the perfect dress that can be dressed up or down. You can’t beat the price! It has a cute back that is open and ties. I love the chunky shoes from Lulu’s to pair with it. This black and gold leopard print bow tie would be so cute on your pup!
HOW TO ATTEND
