DOG FRIENDLY BATON ROUGE: SPEND A MORNING DOWNTOWN WITH US!

Downtown Baton Rouge has so many beautiful sites to see and things to do! From the architecture to the Mississippi River waterfront, there are plenty of places to enjoy and you can do your sight seeing with your B.F.F (best furry friend). We enjoyed a morning in downtown Baton Rouge a few Sundays ago and here’s what we did!

First stop was grabbing some breakfast at Milford’s on Third. Milford’s is located at 150 3rd St, Baton Rouge, LA 70801 and has the most delicious bagels and breakfast sandwiches. There are two or three small tables out front that you can sit outside with your pup while you enjoy your breakfast. Be prepared to share the bacon! There’s even a water bowl in front of the restaurant for thirsty pups. We ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and a “wakey bakey”, which was a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Teddy enjoyed bacon and eggs from my sandwich with an ice cold water! Sorry, no pictures from this breakfast but trust me, it was delicious!

One tip for dining out with your pup: you can call your order in ahead of time and then eat it on the patio. Sometimes, we like to have our time on a patio be shorter, depending on how much energy Teddy has, he may be more eager to beg and want to hit the town and walk!

Milford’s is currently offering takeout and pick up and is open from 7am to 3pm, 7 days a week!

After breakfast, we decided to make our way towards the Mississippi River water front. We walked through the North Blvd town square, the old Governor’s mansion, and the green area near the River Center. While we were walking, we noticed we were following part of the Baton Rouge Heart Trail. The Heart Trail takes you through downtown and combines fitness and art, all while taking you past 130 local businesses. It was designed “to showcase the beauty and character of your city that you fell in love with once upon a time.” We definitely plan to check out more of this trail once it cools down a bit! Learn more about the Heart Trail here.

Once we hit the water front, we walked the levee! Of course, we had to stop for photos of Teddy enjoying his morning in his city. He is always excited to go walk along the waterfront because he always makes people smile. If you decide to go walk with your pup here, there are many photo opps inlcuding: murals, art installations, the U.S.S. Kidd, the famous bridge that connects West Baton Rouge to Baton Rouge, the old Governor’s mansion and the beautiful waterfront!
